Acorn puts Carbon considerations at the front of customer thoughts

Acorn Web the specialist printer of short to medium run A4 and A5 multi page products has been driving many sustainability projects in recent years and it has long been able to advise its customers on the carbon impact of their printed products.

However, working closely with CarbonQuota and Graphic Communications, a CAI Division over several months the Normanton based web offset printer has integrated its systems to fully automate the previously manual intensive process for producing Carbon Calculations.  This has now been achieved, and the companies are pleased to announce that since the start of the May all outgoing estimates now include this information as standard.

We have been measuring our (scopes 1-3) emissions for four years, this has also given us the ability to produce print specific product carbon calculations.  These product calculations have been of increasing importance to our customers as this helps them with their own carbon reporting and gives them a clear understanding of how they can adjust the specification of their print projects to reduce their own carbon impact.

Mark Roberts

Managing Director, Acorn Web Offset

Acorn Web has always been a leader in the sector. Given that they work with some of the world’s largest brands, it was clear they needed the highest quality carbon data. This is about transparency and accuracy. Our CarbonConnect platform, integrated directly into Technique, enables carbon calculations to happen automatically within existing workflows.

Acorn’s team can now use carbon footprint data across estimating, production and reporting with no additional effort or training.

Transparency and Accuracy

This is about transparency and accuracy. CarbonQuota’s CarbonConnect platform, integrates directly into Technique, enabling carbon calculations to happen automatically within existing workflows.

Sustainability is increasingly front of mind for print businesses and their customers, and we recognised that our solutions need to play an active role in making carbon data accessible. The integration between Technique and CarbonQuota does exactly that. What previously required significant manual effort can now happen instantly, at the point of estimating, giving printers like Acorn Web the ability to have informed carbon conversations with their clients from the very start of a job. We’re proud to see Acorn Web leading the way with this capability, and we look forward to rolling it out further across the Technique customer base.
